How to send alerts to AlertOps

AlertOps is a major incident management system that helps IT Operations manage and optimize their alerts. This article will show you how to enable integration and send alerts directly from NetCrunch into AlertOps.

Get Link for NetCrunch integration From AlertOps

The only thing you need to do in AlertOps to enable integration with NetCrunch is to get the URL from the AlertOps application.

To do that:

  1. From the main menu, click Administration and select Inbound Integrations from the drop-down menu.
  2. Select the Add Web API Integration button.
  3. Select NetCrunch from the Integration Template drop-down menu.
  4. Enter a name for the Integration. Select a message rule. The message rule will determine the escalation policy for the NetCrunch Integration. Select Recipient Users and Groups that should receive messages from this integration. Then, click Save Changes. Click Copy URL to copy the URL endpoint that will be used in the NetCrunch configuration.

Enable NetCrunch to post to AlertOps

To enable NetCrunch to post important alerts directly to AlertOps, you need to first set up an Integration Profile for AlertOps in NetCrunch. To do so, click Monitoring Integration Profiles at the top of the NetCrunch application.

Next, set the Name of the profile and provide a URL that was generated by the AlertsOps system for this integration.

Create an alert sending Alerts to Alert Ops

To allow NetCrunch to utilize this integration, it's necessary to create an alerting script (or edit the already existing one). The steps below explain how to create a new alerting script.

  • Click Monitoring Alerting Escalation Script
  • In Alerting Scripts Window click Add Alerting Script
  • Click Add and select Action to Run immediately
  • Click Integrations tab and select AlertOps Alert
Create alerting Script

A new window will appear, where you can select the time, view, and severity restrictions related to alerting to the AlertOps application. As for the parameters, everything is set automatically. It's recommended to keep "Automatically add action on alert close" to close alerts in AlertOps automatically on event correlations.

The last thing is to test integration - click on the Test button.

Test the integration

You should now be able to see the test alert in Your AlertOps site.

You can now assign this alerting script to any alert or monitoring pack rule you want, NetCrunch will create alerts in the AlertOps and if they are correlated - close them automatically.

If such alert is closed by NetCrunch or it's closed manually - action in NetCrunch will be closed it in both - NetCrunch and AlertOps.
