Web Access establishes a remote communication with NetCrunch Server using Web browser that supports HTML5. Web Access provides the most common functionalities of NetCrunch Administration Console. However, some of them can be limited while accessing NetCrunch Server via a Web browser. The detailed list includes:
- Accessing Network Atlas views including Dashboards, Nodes and Objects elements,
- Views: you can create different kind of view layouts for map and details views,
- Node monitoring: access to the standard node settings and configuration options available via Node settings window,
- Node status information available via Status window,
- Event log: you can view Network Atlas, map or node events (from the selected time range),
- Reports: you can generate and view Network Atlas, map or node reports (from the selected time range),
- Node notes: You can add notes to the selected node,
- Monitoring dependencies,
- Locate on option: it enables viewing maps that include the selected node,
- Charts view: you have access to top charts in the read-only mode,
- Trend Viewer,
- iTools functionality,
- SNMP Viewer,
- Adding existing nodes to the selected view,
- Adding new nodes to monitoring,
- Tips presenting status information about views and nodes,
- Searching for nodes and views by name criteria,
- Filtering Network Atlas views,
- Browsing history for views and tabs .
Web Access profiles allows you to define which access rights (e.g. read or read/write) to a selected functions in NetCrunch will be granted for each user. After NetCrunch installation the Web Access functionality is enabled by default.
Before using Web Access the first time you should configure the following options:
- Make sure the Web Access parameters such as its port or encryption capability are configured properly in the program: Tools->Options->General Options->Server->Web Access tab.
- Define a Web Access user by specifying a password and appropriate Web Access Profile properties for the user: Tools->Profiles->Users and Groups->Add User
In order to connect to the NetCrunch Server via a Web browser, open a standard Web browser and type in the IP address or DNS name of the host where NetCrunch Server is installed (and is currently running).
For example, if you installed the program on a computer with an IP address of 123.43.2.10, type the following link in the Address field of your Web browser: http://123.43.2.10.
Since Web Access gives the possibility of simultaneous connection of many users to the same NetCrunch Server, to avoid overlapping of changes made by the users and to give each of them the possibility to personalize their atlases, the following elements are configurable per user:
- map and table layouts,
- filtering Atlas views,
- collapsing / expanding trees,
- zooming map and performance views,
- favorite views,
Note: Please note that the program utilizes one Remote Access license for each remote connection to NetCrunch Server via NetCrunch Administration Console or any Web Access connection.
