If you want to measure the latency to devices in your network, you can use the PING RTT counter. The alert checking if PING RTT is higher than 1000ms is added automatically to all nodes. The counter showing the value of the PING RTT value can be found e.g. in the Node Status > Performance tab. If you want to see the slowest responding nodes on your network, you can open the Top Chart view and scroll to the Slow Responding Nodes (by PING) tile in it.
Besides PING RTT you can also keep an eye on the Check Time counter for any Network Services monitored on given nodes. For the Network Services that are detected automatically, just go to Node Status > Performance and find the appropriate counter. Otherwise, you must first add it to monitoring (you can read about it here < LINK >)
In addition to this, you can monitor the Jitter. For this purpose, you can add the ICMP Jitter sensor to desired nodes (Node Settings > Add Monitoring Sensor) or use IP SLA Jitter Operation, added on devices supporting this technology.
You can also measure Check Time in sensors. This counter measures how long it takes for the sensor to execute the monitoring operation.
Finally, it is possible to measure operating system parameters that affect application performance and latency. Disk Latency and Processor Utilization parameters can be measured using Performance Counters for the respective operating systems. (There are predefined Monitoring Packs that measures these counters and alerting when the values are too high)
All above counters can be displayed in Top Charts. This allows you to easily display and find the nodes that cause the most problems.
