You can set and change the default credentials for all monitored Linux, BSD, Mac OS X, Solaris and ESX/ESXi machines. You can also specify credentials for a particular node in the monitored network.
Default credentials specified will be used by NetCrunch only if no such information is provided for a particular node in Monitor Configuration window in Node Settings->Monitoring.
Linux Default Credentials
- NetCrunch supports Linux systems with kernel 2.4 and higher.
- In order to obtain information from the kernel of a Linux system, the /proc file system must be mounted. Since it is a default Linux file system, no additional installation is required.
- To obtain information from the Linux machine the SSH connection must be established.
BSD Default Credentials
- NetCrunch supports OpenBSD, FreeBSD and NetBSD systems.
- The root password is not required.
- In order to establish connection with the BSD machine the SSH protocol is used. Therefore, the SSH must be enabled on the BSD node.
Mac OS X Default Credentials
- NetCrunch supports all Mac OS X system versions.
- In order to establish connection with the Mac OS X machine the SSH protocol is used. Therefore, the SSH must be enabled on the Mac OS X node.
Solaris Default Credentials
- In order to establish connection with the Solaris machine the SSH protocol is used. Therefore, the SSH must be enabled on the Solaris node.
ESX/ESXi Default Credentials
- NetCrunch supports ESX/ESXi version 5.5 and 6.
- NetCrunch connects directly to the ESX servers, so it does not need vSphere to be installed.
