Setting NetCrunch to monitor hard disk thresholds

How do I enable the product so that I can monitor hard disk thresholds with NetCrunch?

Applies to 8.x 7.x 6.x

In Windows XP/Vista/7 and 2003/2008 Server disk counters are turned on by default. Therefore they can be monitored by NetCrunch without any extra configuration.

In case of older Microsoft Operating Systems like Windows NT or Windows 2000 some disk counters are turned off.

In Windows NT all disk counters are turned off by default.

In Windows 2000 the Physical Disk object is turned on by default and the Logical Disk object is off by default.

To monitor the disk counters you have to activate them with the Windows command diskperf -y on the workstation you want to monitor (It can be done remotely as well). Then reboot this system, and then the physical/logical disk performance counters should be also visible remotely in NetCrunch.
