Monitoring Windows services

First, make sure that NetCrunch is logged in to remote machine, where you would like to monitor Windows Services. Double-click a node to display its Status window.

Then define an event by following the steps:

1. Right-click the node and select Node settings->Alerts and Reports-> Manage node alerts and reports.
2. Click Add alert button to add an event.
3. From Windows tab select an event you would like to monitor. You can choose one of the options: Selected Service is running/not running/paused/stopped. 4 Click on [...] icon within Windows Service Name to select service to monitor (Note: NetCrunch can monitor any service or the selected one).
4. Click OK when done.

Now you can set up an action that will restart Windows Service when the event is generated.

Here is how to do it:

1. Double-click on previously defined event .
2. Click Add button to add an action that will be executed immediately or delayed after the event is generated.
3. From Control tab, select Start/Stop/Pause Windows Service action.
4. Select the same Windows Service you set up to be monitored.
5. From Service Node pull down menu, select Node causing event.
6. Select control action that will be executed (Start/Stop/Pause etc.).
7. Click OK when done.
