Adding a new user profile in NetCrunch

How do I add or modify a user profile in NetCrunch?

Applies to 15.x 14.x 13.x 12.x 11.x 10.x 9.x

Follow these steps to add or modify a user profile in NetCrunch:

  1. Navigate to Settings->NetCrunch System->Users & Access Rights Manager.
  2. To modify an existing user, click on the username of the user you want to modify. Change the necessary settings for that user
  3. To add another user, click the +Add button. Fill in the required details for the new user
  4. To specify the notification method (email, text message): click the + button in the Notification Profile section, select notification type, and enter the necessary parameters (i.e., email address). Verify and adjust the Time restriction settings if needed.
  5. To assign access rights to the profile, click on the Access Profile dropdown list and select the desired profile - the Full Access and Read Only profiles are available by default (You can also create a new custom access profile in the Access Profiles tab).
  6. You can group users into Notification Groups designed to make it easier to manage notifications in NetCrunch - when used in alert escalation, you can assign notification group users to the alerting script, and flexibly manage who is a member of the group instead of manually adding multiple users in the alerting script. If the user should not receive specific alerts, remove them from the Notification Group rather than manually removing them from all alerting scripts.
  7. For larger teams or more complex networks, consider creating specific Organizational Groups, reflecting sites, departments, or teams responsible for certain monitoring aspects (infrastructure, databases, etc). Users can be assigned to one or more groups, which can then be used for alert management tasks.
  8. Click OK to save the changes.

These steps ensure that user profiles in NetCrunch are correctly configured for both the access rights and notification settings.
