License Activation/Deactivation Process

Recommended procedure for reinstalling or migrating NetCrunch to another machine

Applies to 15.x 13.x 12.x 11.x 10.x

AdRem Software allows NetCrunch licenses to be activated with one click over a secure internet connection. The new system eliminates the need to download and store license keys and dramatically simplifies the activation process while assuring license authenticity.

A single NetCrunch license can be used for a single NetCrunch installation. Therefore, when you plan to reinstall/migrate NetCrunch to another machine, you have to deactivate the license first. To deactivate your license, use NCLicensemanager.exe located in the start menu or in the program installation directory, and follow the steps listed there.

Special attention to license deactivation for NetCrunch instances running on virtual hosts should be taken. Before resetting (rolling-back) your VM to a prior state, be sure to deactivate your NetCrunch license. This will convert your NetCrunch installation back into trial mode, and allow the Licensing Portal to re-provision a new, unique license key for your fresh install.

License activation codes are single-use and behave in the following manner:

  • Rolling back your NetCrunch virtual machine will invalidate your license, regardless of activation method (online/offline)

  • Deactivate license first if you are planning to move your NetCrunch to different hardware, or a new virtual host.

  • Deactivation will turn the program into a 30-day trial, and allow you to reprovision your license to your new environment.

  • Please note that if you deactivate the license offline, you have to activate it offline as well.
