Setting up a business hours notification schedule

I want to put my printers in a schedule from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm so if something is going on I know about it.....but outside that, I don't get alerted. Do I set up an alert script?

Applies to 12.x 11.x 10.x

You can do it by setting time restrictions for monitoring the selected node. It can also be done easily for multiple nodes at once, using multi-selection:

  1. Open Node Settings --> Monitoring of such a node.
  2. Click on the button Every day, all the time... button at the center top of the Window.
  3. In the 'Select Time Range' window set the appropriate time restrictions (in this case from Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM).

If you would like to monitor the device but just do not be notified about events on it, you can change time restrictions in either:

the Alerting Script settings:

  1. From Top Menu you should select Alerting Scripts.
  2. Right-click on the relevant alerting script and select the 'Edit' option. You can also create a new alerting script to be used for such devices that you want to monitor but restrict notification to specific hours.
  3. Choose Time under Restrictions.
  4. Select time ranges as stated below.
  5. Assign the monitoring script to all devices that you need to restrict the notification time range.

or the User profiles* - in this way you can restrict the notification schedule for all devices that the given user profile has assigned to it, as described below:

  1. From Top Menu select Tools --> Users & Access Rights Manager
  2. Open the NetCrunch Users tab.
  3. Select the relevant user.
  4. Click on the + button in the Notification Profile section.
  5. Analogically, click on Edit in the Time Restrictions part to set time ranges. in this way, all notifications assigned to this user profile will be restricted (executed only within) selected time range.
