How to set network discovery options

Tools->Options->General options->Network Discovery

To change certain parameters that NetCrunch uses during the network discovery process, use Network Discovery page. You can edit the following options:

• the maximum time that a node is to be scanned,
• the retry count and timeout values for sent packets using ICMP,
• the timeout for the SNMP node scan. Indicating larger value for the timeout means NetCrunch will have more time to properly scan the node using SNMP.
• enable/disable a warning to be displayed before scanning foreign/Internet networks (this option is enabled by default).

To change network discovery options:

1. Open Tools->Options->General options->Network Discovery from the main program menu.
2. In the Maximum node scan time field indicate the maximum time that NetCrunch will have to obtain information about particular node during network discovery.
3. In the Try Count field, enter the maximum number of attempts that NetCrunch should use to send packets using ICMP before considering the node non-existent in a specific network.
4. In the Timeout field under the ICMP section , enter the maximum time (in milliseconds) that NetCrunch should wait for a reply from node to which the packet was sent using ICMP, before considering it lost.
5. In the Timeout field under SNMP section, enter the maximum time that NetCrunch should use to obtain information about the node using SNMP.
6. Click OK.
