Graphs and tables
The reporting capability involves collecting the appropriate data and later presenting it in an informative format as a graph or a table. To facilitate the reporting capability, NetCrunch comes with a predefined and configurable set of report templates viewable in the NetCrunch Report Viewer and Add Report window.
Data collection
Data collection in NetCrunch is used for reporting gathered information from the monitored network, following the user specifications. Therefore, the user needs to define a data collection for reporting in selected monitoring policies.
Monitoring packs
Monitoring packs in NetCrunch can be used for monitoring any atlas, map or even a single node. A monitoring pack may consist of alerting and/or data collection used for reporting. It may contain either one of the elements or both. Defining a new data collection pack means creating a new monitoring pack with the data collection for reporting.
The user can also define a data collection for reporting within any existing monitoring pack.
Defining a data collection
Defining a data collection for reporting means creating the list of reports, chosen from the predefined report templates list. Each report can be generated, saved and sent via email at different scheduled times.
Once a data collection for reporting has been defined, you can modify the data collection rules at any time.
Note: NetCrunch collects data only for those reports added to any monitoring pack regardless of scheduling. As a result, the program will gather only relevant data and conserve network resources.
All collected data are kept in NetCrunch for the period defined on the Maintenance page in the Options window.
