Monitoring services using custom ports

I wanted to know if there's a possibility to monitor other ports (e.g. 3306 mysql) that I couldn't find on the list?

Applies to 12.x 11.x 10.x 9.x

NetCrunch includes the list of predefined network and application services that can be monitored: Tools->Options->Monitoring->Network Services.

The list can be extended in 3 ways:

  • You can define new service to check if the specific port is opened,
  • It is possible to define new service to be monitored by giving the request and response data from the packets to provide more accurate check,
  • An existing service definition can be duplicated to create the same service but on different port number.
