How do I monitor Bandwidth Utilization on a switch or router ?

NetCrunch comes with predefined virtual counter to monitor % of Bandwidth Utilization.

To set up a chart, go to Performance Views

  1. Right click on Performance Views->New->Blank Chart View.
  2. in any working space, right click->New->Chart
  3. in next window, Select the node, click next (note: Switch or router needs to be SNMP enabled)
  4. in next window click 'Add counter' button and select SNMP Performance Counters (predefined counters)
  5. from the 'Performance Object' pull down menu, select '.NCVC.SNMP.Interfaces' option
  6. select FD or HD Bandwidth Utilization
  7. select Instance (like _Total, or Specific Interface ID)
  8. click add, repeat to add more than one counter
  9. click Close and 'OK' when done.
