How to add up time widget (Advanced)

I'd like to add a widget showing up time of my device, but the counter is not monitored by default

Applies to 13.x 12.x 11.x 10.x 9.x

For the devices which doesn't have predefined Up Time counter available (this can happen on less popular devices), it is possible to monitor up time using values from MIB which usually is given by the manufacturer of the device. Please note that the monitored node must have SNMP enabled.

  1. Create Graphical View (or edit existing one) and add Data Widget - Value and Text is most suitable here.
  2. After you have added the Widget, edit the properties on the right side of the screen.
  3. Counter Source should be Select node, then select the node which Up time you want to monitor.
  4. Select Counter and then click on SNMP Performance Counters.
  5. Check first option and write OID which shows Up Time, or select it directly from MIB (if manufacturer provided special MIB which is designed to your device, MIB must be compiled before can be selected here).

  6. Default MIB to monitor Up time is: sysUpTime - it's calculated in hundredths of seconds with TimeTicks base type, select OK -> Next -> ADD.

  7. Select Milliseconds as a display units.

  8. Multiplication factor should be 10, because this counter is calculated in hundredths of seconds, so it has to be multiplicated by 10 to give desired result.

  9. To check if everything was properly configured, right click on node which Up Time is monitored and select SNMP View. After data is loaded, compare Up time from SNMP info to Widget.

Optional: To change widget displayed name (which will be full name of MIB - it might be hard to read) in Properties window switch to Appearance tab and change Caption to e.g. "Up time".
