Are you using an external mail server to send out alerts? If so, what happens when you try to use the built in server in NetCrunch? Do you get any error messages when you send a test e-mail?
Sometimes this error (socket #10053) is the result of a firewall or a virus program which acts as a sort of firewall and blocks certain ports. To fix the problem, you need to change the configuration of your antivirus or firewall to allow NetCrunch to send emails.
