Monitoring Windows Events

Can NetCrunch view or monitor Windows Events?

NetCrunch has built-in mechanism to monitor Windows Event Log of remote machines. Monitoring of events requires the following steps to be performed:

Enable Windows Event Log' monitor in Tools-->Options-->Monitoring-->Windows Event Log

Set up an event to monitor Windows Event Log on selected machine or group of machines. Follow the steps below:

  1. right click on a node and select Alerting-->Edit Node Alerting Policy
  2. click 'Add' button to add a new event
  3. from 'Windows' tab select 'Received NTLog Entry Event'
  4. type the name in 'Description' field
  5. if messages from event log should be filtered, select 'Event Matching Expression' option. Set up desired filtering condition
  6. click OK twice to finish operation

Once the event is defined, NetCrunch will monitor Windows Event Log of remote machine. You can set up an action that will be triggered when Windows event is received.
