Basic Alert Configuration (Service Down/Host Down) in NetCrunch 7.x

The answer to both those questions is yes!

To set up an alert that is triggered when service stopped do the following steps. Please note, you can do this at the atlas level, at the map level or at the node level.

This example will show you how to define the alert at the Node level:

1. Right-click the node, select: Node settings-> Monitoring->Alerts&Reports-> Manage Node Alerts and Reports->Add alert.
2. On Add Monitoring Event window select Services&Interfaces tab.
3. Under Network Service State Event double-click Selected service is DOWN.
4. On Edit Event Definition window type in a general name for the event for example: "HTTP service stopped".
5. Select severity level, state (operational; nonoperational), application group.
6. Select Network service.
7. Click OK.

II Host down alert definition

To set up an alert that is triggered when host is down, do the following steps. Please note, you can do this at the atlas level, at the map level or at the node level. This example will show you how to define the alert at the Node level:

1. Right click on the node, select Node Settings->Monitoring->Alerts&Reports ->Manage Node Alerts and Reports.
2. Click Add Alert button to add an event.
3. From the Basic tab select Node is Down event.
4. Click OK twice to confirm this operation.

Note: Please be aware that the Node is Down event is set up on the Atlas level by default.
